Future Plans
With a hosted managed sitebuilder service, it is us the sitebuilder developers who are responsible for maintaining and improving the system. This is done at no extra cost to our clients, and when we improve the system all of our clients can benefit from this. A website should not be thought of as a one-off purchase, it should be continually improved.
We have a number of improvements planned in the near future:
1. Improving the SEO (search engine optimisation) features of the online shop section of our sitebuilder for more search engine optimised urls (url = web address of a page in the site), e.g. rather than shop/index.php/cPath/3 in the url for the shop's shoes category we will have the url as shop/shoes. We are already doing this with the overall website outside the online shop section, we just need to add this feature to the online shop section too.
2. Adding category descriptions for categories in the shop section
3. The online shop section of the sitebuilder is currently based on osCommerce 2.2 MS2, when a stable version of osCommerce 3 is ready and suitable, we will migrate our core system to the new version
